School of Rock – Kids

Ever wanted to be a ROCKSTAR in a real rock band? At School of Rock we create an environment for people who have always wanted to rock a stage and teach them the skills to put on a rocking show! This six-week program is instructed by professional musicians and focuses on the basics of guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and AV tech as well as how to own a stage, with an emphasis on the performance side to rock and roll. Each band mate will share musical roles, learning how to improvise using rhythm and chords. Students will have a chance to try every position to see which is best suited for them. At the end of six weeks students will rock out in a final performance in the main theatre at the Arts Centre. This course is for aspiring rock stars ages 11-14 playing guitar, drums, bass, or vocals. Prior experience not required, but welcomed. If your child is especially musically gifted for their age please contact us about enrolling them in a higher age group. Don’t be shy, join the fun! No instruments required, but if you have one bring it along.

WHAT YOU GET:

  • A two and half hour weekly band rehearsal
  • Instruction from the best of Whistler’s professional musicians
  • A chance to try different instruments and different roles in the band
  • Instruments are provided
  • An unforgettable experience
