Art on the Lake – FAQs

Do I need a boat for Art On The Lake?

Water vessels (including inflatable SUPs, kayaks, canoes, unicorns, donuts and other inflatable recreational floats) are highly recommended for Art On The Lake. Many of our live performers & artists are in locations that are only accessible by boat, so bring a vessel if you want to experience the event in full!

Can I rent a boat?

Mention “Art on the Lake” to receive locals’ discounts on boat rentals at Backroads (Lakeside Park) and Whistler Eco-Tours (Wayside Park) on the event days.

How to get to Alta Lake?

Free shuttle buses will be running on both days of the event from Whistler Village to Lakeside Park, thanks to the Resort Municipality of Whistler. They will run every 20 minutes on a continual loop:
August 11 from 2.30-8 pm
August 12 11.30 to 6.30 pm
The bus will pick up from 2 locations in Whistler Village: Gondola Transit Exchange Post 4 & Blackcomb Way at Whistler Olympic Plaza (opposite Day Lot 4). The shuttle can carry deflated, packed-down inflatable water vessels, including iSUP boards.

What happens if it’s raining?

We have set weather delays for August 18 & 19 or 25 & 26. Decisions on weather delays will be made 48 hours in advance.

What could make Art On The Lake any better? How about a doggy dock jumping competition with professional dog photographer Epic PhoDography, with all proceeds going to Whistler Animals Galore – WAG! During Art On The lake on Friday, August 12, dog owners can enter their aquatically-inclined pups into the dock jumping contest from 3-4 pm.
