Flag Stop Theatre and Arts Festival

AUGUST 9-11, 2019 

The Point Artist-Run Centre, along with Gibbons Whistler and Nesters Market, are happy to present the Flag Stop Theatre & Arts Festival, returning for its 8th year August 9-11. All are invited to enjoy three days of original theatre on a floating stage, standup and improv comedy, live music, dinner and dancing, and more.Set against the backdrop of the centre’s heritage lodge on the beautiful shore of Alta Lake, featured acts will include the premiere of stage play About The Moose, comedian Dino Archie, Vancouver Theatre Sports, Coal Davie & the Rockabillionaires, Gruff Goat Dance Troupe, Marble Canyon and more!

 

FRIDAY EVENING, AUGUST 9

See the premiere of About the Moose Written and Produced by Stephen Vogler, Directed by Angie Nolan. About The Moose is a hilarious romp through the swamp, a witty satire on bureaucracy and wildlife management that is both moving and drop dead funny. The play has been developed as part the annual Flagstop Theatre Mentorship program. 

The evening opens with a dance performance by Trish Belsham’s Gruff Goat Dance Theatre and wraps up with high energy Vancouver rockabilly band Coal Davie & the Rockabillionaires inside the lodge! Doors at 6pm.

 

SATURDAY EVENING, AUGUST 10

Get ready to laugh with a night of comedy and improv, featuring members of Vancouver Theatre Sports League and Get to The Point Improv and stand up comedian Dino Archie, as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Live music by Marble Canyon. Doors at 6pm.

 

SUNDAY AUGUST 11 – 12-4pm

FREE ADMISSION
Enjoy monologues on the floating stage by the Youth Theatre Mentorship Program, as well as a live acoustic session with Aude Ray on the back porch of the lodge. Play some bocce and have brunch at the Cypress Point Café.
