Attention young creatives: Art exhibitions, Student Art Awards and the first-ever Chili Thom Scholarship!

The snow will soon begin melting and the hope for warmer weather is creeping up. Just like the winter, the school season is in its final few months.  For students in elementary and secondary school in the Sea to Sky, it’s time to get busy:

FULL SPECTRUM: WHISTLER SECONDARY SCHOOL ART SHOW

This show features students’ Major Personal Project.

For over a decade, senior Visual Arts students from Whistler Secondary School have shown their artwork at The Gallery at the Maury Young Arts Centre. With a wide variety of skill levels, subject matter and styles, for some, this is their first major piece and first public show, while others participated in last year’s exhibition.

EXHIBIT: March 6-25, Open daily, free | Maury Young Arts Centre

STUDENT ART AWARDS

Are you a creative student in Whistler, Pemberton, or Mt. Currie? Here is your chance to be recognized.

Since 1987, Arts Whistler has been recognizing artistic achievement in the visual, literary, performing and media arts as demonstrated by graduating students from elementary and secondary schools in Whistler, Pemberton, and Mt. Currie.

Currently accepting applications from Grade 7 and Grade 12 students

Deadline for submissions: 4:00pm on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

CHILI THOM SCHOLARSHIP

Available to graduating students from a public secondary school in the Sea to Sky Corridor, or applicants residing in the Sea to Sky Corridor (ie. Squamish, Whistler, Pemberton or Mt. Currie) for a minimum of 1 year at the time of application.

NOTE: Preference is given to graduating students. Applicants are NOT required to be enrolling in post-secondary education.

Amount: $500

Applicants must submit a letter answering two questions, a sample of work, and a letter from a mentor or art fan. For complete details on the application process, review the application guide. Chili Thom Scholarship Guide
