Wanderlust Whistler: Open Up and Say ‘Ohm’!
Whistler’s majestic mountains and fresh air offer the perfect setting for Wanderlust, a festival that celebrates ‘mindful living’. This isn’t just a yoga festival, it’s a gathering of souls to celebrate the beauty of the human spirit. Yes, there’s yoga, but there is so much more. From August 1stto the 4th, Wanderlust Whistler has thoughtfully curated a selection of guides and events that will provide an unforgettable journey.
Might as well start with the obvious, it is a yoga festival after all! Along with top yoga and meditation instructors, Wanderlust has designed a comprehensive schedule of classes that will leave your muscles singing and your breath connection stronger than ever. Start with Ashtanga and Kundalini then dive into more unusual practices like Acro, SUP or slackline yoga.
There are plenty of workshops on meditation, breathwork, manifestations and mindfulness. Try chakra meditation, ecstatic breathwork or a sonic temple soundbath. Guides from around the world will lead you through movement, chanting, breath and prayer.
‘Wild’ and ‘Shameless’ don’t necessarily sound like the kinds of words that invoke the Wanderlust spirit, but the authors of these two books certainly do. Authors Cheryl Strayed and Nadia Bolz Weber are on tap to speak for much anticipated events as well as a host of other inspiring lectures for the ‘Speakeasy Talks’ series.
It wouldn’t be a festival without some awesome tunes, and music is the heartbeat of Wanderlust. Check out alt rock collective Broken Social Scene at Whistler Olympic Plaza on Friday, August 2nd or Nahko and Medicine For the People on Saturday August 3rd, offering a worldly blend of rock, hip-hop and alt-folk.
