International celebrity air hostess Pam Ann returns as a festival headliner to help usher in a week packed with winter sport, culture and entertainment.
Whistler Pride and Ski Festival returns to our snowy mountain town from January 20-27. It’s one of the largest queer-focused ski weeks in the world, welcoming guests from around the globe. Each day begins with daily guided ski and snowboarding groups, followed by a free festival après ski events and nightly entertainment programming. The 2019 festival will feature the incredible comedic talents of Pam Ann and Jackie Beat, as well as dance events with headlining DJs, including Phil B (San Francisco) and Grammy-nominated DJ Abel Aguilera (Miami) making his Whistler Pride debut.
On January 23, international celebrity air-hostess Pam Ann is back to guide her audience through the trials and tribulations of air travel with her brand new show, Flying High. Pam Ann isn’t afraid to say “what real flight attendants would like to say but can’t,” explains the comedian. Her show skewers the quirks of some of the biggest international airlines with fabulous style and deliciously raw humour.
“Pam Ann came to be out of a bottle of Vodka at a James Bond themed birthday party,” explains Reid of the charater’s origins. “I was dressed as a 1960’s Pan Am air hostess because James Bond only flew chic airline Pan Am (Pan Am a defunct airline in the USA). My friends started calling me Pan Am, but after so many vodkas it started to sound like PAM ANN the rest is history.”
Pam Ann has been part of the Whistler Pride and Ski Festival lineup a few times over the past decade, and excited to touch back down in Whistler for the 2019’s week-long celebration.
“My favorite part is performing to the Whistler Pride LGBTQRSVP audience you are the most fun and really know how to party and drink!” says Pam Ann. “I also like getting high on the mountain by high I mean high up!”
Flying High presented by Delta Air will be opened with a performance by sketch and comedy duo The Ryan and Amy show (Ryan Steele and Amy Goodmurphy), and will be followed immediately by an official after-party with a chance to mingle with Pam Ann at the Aava Hotel’s CABN.
In addition to bringing the crowd a laugh-filled evening and an effervescent after-party, Pam Ann says she’ll be taking advantage of Whistler’s world-class slopes. “I’ll be heli skiing into the side of a mountain, so look out for an air hostess in a chopper!”
New to the festival this year is a Saturday evening cabaret, featuring iconic queen Jackie Beat, who has been entertaining audiences across the US and in Europe for over twenty-five years.
With her razor-sharp comedy and hysterical song parodies, Jackie not only warps hits by Britney Spears, Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Cher, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Mariah Carey and many others, but she flawlessly sings her twisted new versions LIVE — hitting every last note.
Jackie Beat returns to Whistler for the first ever Saturday Night Drag Cabaret at CABN with a dazzling new show you don’t want to miss, Jackie Beat Goes Downhill Fast!
