Braiding the Land – A collection of works by Raven Spirit Dance
Join us for an unforgettable evening of dance, story, and connection in Braiding the Land, a powerful collection of works by Raven Spirit Dance. Rooted in Indigenous worldviews and honouring the lands we live on, this performance draws on over two decades of creative practice to bring forward embodied stories of place, memory, and spirit.
Experience three evocative pieces that reflect the deep ties between land and body:
- Frost Exploding Trees Moon— A solo journey of a woman navigating her trapline, exploring the sacred act of housing one’s spirit.
- Steppin’— An energetic contemporary Métis jig solo, created and performed by Jeanette Kotowich.
- Confluence— A vibrant ensemble work that honours the strength and resilience of Indigenous women, flowing like rivers through ancestral landscapes.
With choreography by Michelle Olson and Starr Muranko, and performed by a dynamic cast of artists, Braiding the Land is grounded, expressive, and alive with the movement of stories passed through generations.
