INSTRUCTOR: Sue Stearns
Sue Stearns grew up in a musical family with a house full of pianos, drums, trumpets and guitars. She has been playing the guitar for over 50 years.
In 2003, Sue founded the Chicks With Picks program at the Pemberton Community Centre and has since coached more than 700 students of all ages in the Sea to Sky corridor. Sue believes that playing the guitar should be fun! Her teaching method is both encouraging and results-oriented; allowing students to learn basic and recognizable songs so that they see tangible results in a short amount of time.
Sue was one of the founding members of the local Classic Rock Band Still Smokin’ who were the opening band at the 2008 Pemberton Music Festival and also performed on the Whistler Live Stage for the 2010 Paralympics.
These days Sue and her musical partner, Don, perform acoustic rock (with a twist) as B. Daddy & the Coconut. Sue and Don have been writing and performing original music for more than 20 years and have a full show of original songs, inspired of course by the incredible beauty of our local surroundings and life’s up and down experiences.
