The Maker and the Muse is a creative journey. Responding to lessons designed to spark your curiosity, with the beautiful backdrop of Alta Lake, learn to tap into your creative wonder. Experimenting with a variety of tools and mediums students will leave refreshed with a new insight into how to connect to your inspiration and creative influence.
Instructor: Suzanne Northcott
Suzanne Northcott is an interdisciplinary artist working with installation, video, painting, and drawing. She is interested in the shifting place where one thing becomes another, studying dreams, meditation, and themes of transformation, decay, metamorphosis, and migration. Northcott’s work is held in numerous collections and she is a sought-after lecturer and instructor. She has been guest instructor at UBC, Capilano University, York University, Trinity Western University, and the Langley Fine Arts School.

Students are to bring:
- sketchbook suitable for use with water
- large sketch pad
- Micron Pigma pens, size 3 or 5, or similar
- small bottle of ink
- selection of brushes
- rags or paper towel
- water container
- watercolours or coloured inks
How to get there
The Alta Lake Station House is located 4 kms south of Whistler Village and is accessible by car, bike or foot. Parking is at Wayside Park, not adjacent to the venue, and requires a short walk to the location along a paved trail. Please bring your own lunch/snacks. The Alta Lake Station House features a full kitchen for your use.
