TRAVEL SKETCHING AND WATERCOLOURS – SOLD OUT!
Learn to sketch on the move! This workshop will get you practicing sketching and watercolour techniques designed to tune you into your surroundings and increase confidence. Drawing with different mediums, including pencil and ink, you’ll explore techniques such as sighting, marking, contour and gesture. Then, adding watercolour paint, you’ll get the chance to experiment with water, pigment and brushwork techniques to create a finished masterpiece.

You will learn to practice specific sketching and watercolour techniques designed to attune to your surroundings and increase confidence. Begin by drawing with different mediums including pencil and ink. Explore techniques such as sighting, marking, contour and gesture. Then add watercolour paint; experimenting with water, pigment and brushwork techniques.

Elena Underhill is an artist, illustrator, designer with a lifetime’s experience. Born to artist parents and painting as long as she can remember, she continues to be inspired with the beauty of life, people and places. Elena teaches at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Courses include painting; watercolour, pastel, acrylic, oil and painting and drawing the body. She also works in sculpture with wood, metal and clay. Elena loves meeting new people and working together at stretching the edges of what we think we can do.

How to get there
The Alta Lake Station House is located 4km south of Whistler Village and is accessible by car, bike, or foot. Parking is at Wayside Park. It is approximately a 15-minute walk to the location along the Valley Trail. Please allow yourself time, especially if you are bringing a lot of art supplies. Also, bring your own lunch and snacks, the Alta Lake Station House is not close to any restaurants or grocery stores. The venue is equipped with a full-service kitchen, complete with stove and refrigerator.
