*Sadly, Judy Lynn Bourhis passed away Sept. 22. 2019 after a courageous attempt to survive cancer.
Tucked onto the hill along picturesque Portage Road in Birken is the home of Hugh and Judy Bourhis. This husband and wife team have been working in stained glass since 1979. The location houses both their studio and small gallery where you’ll find windows, lamps, mirrors, jewelry, bowls, sun catchers and more. They also take on commission work, with people bringing them sketches, magazine clippings, photos, and pieces of art from around the world they wish to recreate in glass.
There are many possibilities for stained glass creation. The work is laborious and time-consuming and sometimes, a monumental journey to complete. However, this I believe, is what contributes to its valued collection and historical appreciation – Judy Bourhis

A Little History
Hugh and Judy met in the 1970’s and traveled across Canada in a truck they made into a portable home – Hugh built the frame, and Judy put in the windows. Judy taught Hugh how to work with glass and soon they were paying their way selling art as they went. They decided to settle in Birken in 1980 and this is where you’ll find them!
