If you walk up from Snug Cove towards Artisan Square you can’t help but notice some intriguing metal sculptures at the intersection of Trunk and Miller Road. This is the work of Stacy Beamer and Daniel Waefler who own and operate Bowen Island Metalworks.
They produce gates, fencing, railing, furniture, and sculptures. Beamer’s background is in civil engineering which has taken him all over the world, but he decided to settle on Bowen to raise his family. He found a love of interior, landscape, and sculpture design and the products of this passion can now be found and enjoyed all over the island.
Daniel Waefler was a high school friend of Beamer’s who spent his teenage years working alongside his father who was a wood worker. Waefler spent time in Switzerland, where his family originated, before settling back on the island where he is inspired by the use of vintage materials to build multi-functional furniture and art which have a history.
Although the studio is not open to the general public you can view some of the stunning pieces from the road.
