"Papa Josh" Suhrheinrich is a musician, composer, producer and teacher. He earned a Master's degree in Jazz Performance from Northern Illinois University where he was awarded a scholarship from the Liberace Foundation and studied with internationally renown jazz and classical guitar virtuoso, Fareed Haque. Papa Josh has been performing professionally since age 16 and has toured throughout the US and western Canada. Winner of the 2011 Roland National Loop Competition in Vancouver, BC, Josh then performed as a finalist at the 2012 World Loop Competition in Frankfurt, Germany. Papa Josh has also performed at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, the Monterey Jazz Festival, Pemberton Festival, Whistler Music Festival and more, and opened for acts such as Michael Franti & Spearhead, The Isley Brothers, and Garaj Mahal to name a few.
Josh has also taught guitar, music theory, improvisation and directed ensembles for 25 years. He recently received his BC teacher's certificate and teaches Music, Guitar and Band at Whistler Waldorf High School and also teaches private lessons and classes at Dusty Strings Music School in Seattle, WA. This summer he will hold his second annual music camp in Whistler, Into the Groove Music Camp.
