From the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Denise Hughes moved to Whistler in 1998 and has called this beautiful Valley her home ever since. Denise has always been inspired to work with her hands, focusing on tactile objects that provide beauty and function in their usage. Denise’s profession as a chef has led her desire to produce functional pottery that offers practicality and function, while providing aesthetic value. Denise has been a potter for 16 years, finding inspiration in her surroundings and the natural beauty of the BC coast.
Denise is one of the founding members of the Sea to Sky Potters Guild and teaches pottery programs, at Whistler High School. She has attended ceramic workshops in various studios throughout BC, including Vincent Massey, Shadbolt Centre, Metchosin, and the Parksville Pottery Guild.
You can find her work at the Whistler Farmer’s Market, the Foyer Gallery, Mountain Décor and the BC Potters Guild on Granville Island.
