Let’s Celebrate!

Celebrate Whistler’s innovators, trailblazers, and community cultivators at Whistler’s premier black tie business and community awards. With over 400 locals together for one night, this is the celebration of the year that brings everyone from youthful innovators to longtime local legends out to share their love for the best of Whistler business!

The Whistler Excellence Awards presented by BlueShore Financial, hosted by the Whistler Chamber, honour excellence in the areas of service, innovation, sustainability, outstanding leadership in the arts, business and community service.

Arts Whistler is proud to partner with the Whistler Real Estate Company to present the award for Whistler’s Champion of Arts and Culture. All the finalists are creative visionaries that make our town more colourful, art-filled, hilarious and bursting with personality. Join us in celebrating their achievements and attend the Chamber Excellence Awards to see who is crowned this year’s winner.

 

 

 

We are proud to present the 2019 Finalists for the Whistler Champion of Arts & Culture Award:

Cheximiya Allison Burns Joseph

An excelling weaver and Cultural Delivery Leader at the SLCC, Cheximiya’s inspiration comes from traditional and modern art forms that she transcribes into her weavings.

 

Andrea Mueller

An award-winning contemporary artist, voted Whistlers favourite artist for 2018 and Whistler Blackcomb’s 2019 Feature Artist. A graduate from OCAD, she has spent over a decade as an advocate for the arts, curator and event manager. Connect with Andrea

 

Ira Pettle

A community leader in Whistler’s performing arts of Whistler, Ira creates entertaining, high quality performances, education and productions for kids and adults alike.

 

Learn more about the Whistler Champion of Arts & Culture Award and the finalists:

Whistler Champion of Arts & Culture Award eligible nominators include a member of the cultural community of Whistler. Defined as an individual artist of any discipline (visual, performing, media, literary). Or an arts, culture or heritage organization, group or facility (does not have to be a registered charity).

An eligible candidate must:

  • Be a business, organization, or business leader who demonstrates exceptional leadership, creative vision, and commitment in encouraging and developing partnerships between business and the arts.
  • Be an individual who actively works or volunteers, and who has made significant contributions to enhance arts, culture, and heritage in Whistler or who has made significant contributions to arts education.
  • Be an individual artist who has enriched the community through their talent and commitment to visual, literary, media and/or performing arts or heritage. The individual excels as a creator or performer, facilitates or promotes the artistic efforts of others, and broadens community engagement in the arts.

Whistler Champion of Arts & Culture Award is open to individual artists of all disciplines, volunteers, cultural workers, or a business leader or business/organization who has made a significant impact on the growth of arts, culture, and heritage in the community of Whistler.
