As soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, harpist Alison Hunter has been playing professionally for more than thirty years. Originally from Vancouver, BC, she studied harp in Europe as well at the University of British Columbia. A former faculty member of the Vancouver Academy of Music, Alison has performed, taught and adjudicated throughout the province. A long-time resident of Whistler, she provides solo harp music in the Sea to Sky corridor for weddings, receptions, corporate events and memorials as well as other functions. Allison also performs in concert as a soloist, a member of the Telyn Ensemble (voice, viola & harp) and Whistler Folly (Celtic ensemble) and as an accompanist. She has an extensive and eclectic repertoire of music selections perfect for every occasion. From meditative yoga classes to energetic Christmas parties, she tailors the music to suit your needs. With advance notice, she is happy to accommodate special requests. As a music teacher, Alison runs a busy studio - teaching harp and piano for all levels. In her spare time, she directs the Whistler Children's Chorus and the Whistler Singers. Alison can be found playing one of her seven harps on the shores of Alta Lake, in the foyer of one of Whistler's grand hotels, amidst the vendors at the Whistler Farmers' Market, at the Roundhouse on top of Whistler Mountain or busking in the village - all in a day's work for Whistler's resident harpist!
