Gnarly Roots Pizza and Pasta Cafe

Gnarlyroots Pizza & Café is a proud member of Arts Whistler’s We Heart Local Art program, which matches local businesses with local artists so that they can showcase their art on the walls of the business. Search our Culture Maps by “Businesses with local art” to see whose art is featured where. See something you like? All the art pieces are for sale. Arts Whistler doesn’t take a commission, we just want to promote local artists and businesses, because, well, that’s our jam.

The Gnarlyroots Pizza & Café restaurant is locally owned and operated in Whistler village at Olympic Plaza. The owners prepare the very best food daily for locals and visitors to the mountain resort during all seasons for everyone to enjoy. Come visit the convenient village location that is open 7 days a week for a memorable dining experience. Choose from fantastic café, pizza and gelato menu items which will accommodate your entire group at the fully licensed restaurant location that features a scenic outdoor patio.

Andy Anissimoff: The Gallery of local artist Andy Anissimoff is a 2000 sqft working studio full of bears, mountain goats, eagles, and ravens – acrylic ones. Usually painted with contrasting bright backdrops in yellow, blue, and orange his paintings pop with the expressionate faces of B.C.’s wildlife. He has been selling his art in the Sea to Sky corridor since 2004 and is a full-time professional artist specializing in large-scale custom works, small prints, and plaques.

“It started with one bear and pretty soon I was consistently painting bear commissions for people. So in a way the wildlife chose me. I eventually was keen to balance out the collection. Wildlife is quite challenging to capture, perhaps that’s why I like it. They make fantastic subjects and I like bringing awareness to our bears and other animals.”

Although Andy revels in BC’s rich wildlife, some of his favourite pieces are landscapes and you’ll find mountains, glaciers, snow-ladden trees, and cityscapes featured on his walls.

Visit Andy at his studio on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm or by appointment. You will also find his art at the Sea to Sky Gondola, The Green Market (North Vancouver), Orso Café (Deep Cove), and The Tantalus Art Gallery.
