ABOUT:
Through beautiful, soaring vocal harmonies and slow-building layers of mellow synths and intricate acoustic guitar, Little Earthquakes take their audience on an emotive journey of remembering and longing, heartbreak and hope. Evocative and moving, the band create a spine-tingling blend of low-fi, alt-pop originals and reimagined cover-versions, as Whistler’s newest girl-boy double act.

Little Earthquakes are British-born musicians Helen Hamilton and Charlie Stenner. Thrown in at the deep-end, the pair’s first Whistler show in October 2019 saw them pull together over an hour of songs with just a day’s notice, having never performed together before. The gig was a resounding success, owing to Charlie’s ear for harmony and wealth of music production skills, compounded by Helen’s Europe-touring background and session vocalist work for TV and commercials.

Fast forward to 2021, the pair were selected as one of the final five Sea-to-Sky acts to take part in Arts Whistler’s Creative Catalyst Program, allowing them to enhance their skills and further develop their sound, after the pandemic pause. Just the push the duo needed to kick-start their songwriting journey together, their winning live session at the Maury Young Arts Centre saw the band perform brand new original tracks for the first time. Now continuing to write and define a sound that echoes Daughter, Bon Iver and Novo Amor, Little Earthquakes plan to release their debut EP by the end of this year.
